Brave World is a new piece of mine for jazz sextet and small chamber orchestra. I started writing the six movements of the piece in 2016 and soon  started workshopping and rehearsing it with my students from Trinity Laban Conservatoire Of Music And Dance.  The piece also FEATURES some of my favourite UK jazz  musicians who I've worked a lot over the years  including Seb Rochford (drums) Liam Noble (piano) Tom Herbert (bass) and John Parricelli (guitar).  the clip below is from a Trinity Laban performance in the foyer at the London Jazz Festival in 2016. Since then I've rewritten bits and recorded the whole piece  ( at Mark Knopfler's famous British Grove studio)  with a specially assembled orchestra. Currently I'm in the process of mixing but I hope to release a CD of the music late 2018.

"Lockheart’s eclectic tastes are all here, from cutting edge improvising to Bollywood strings, African Kora harp melodies and 70’s funk. Structured rather like a ‘grand suite’ the six movements are inspired by human traits and tendencies - a subtle comment on the state of our world and humanity"
